A Conversation between a College President and an Infectious Disease Expert

For many residential colleges and universities, opening up campus in the fall of 2020 is not a question of whether – but of how. Mission, enrollment and budget are so dependent on the traditional college experience that another semester of remote learning is neither financially sustainable nor consistent with institutional mission and identity.

Schools are adapting to mitigate risk, acknowledging that risk cannot be eliminated. In doing so, what educational principles, business metrics and public health factors should their presidents and boards consider and monitor?

There is a not a single set of right answers to any of these questions. But, it behooves us all to think this through together. So, I invite you to join me tomorrow for a conversation with two leaders grappling with the same issues that college leaders and trustees are dealing with around the world.

Dr. Jenifer Ward, president of Luther College, has agreed to share her institution’s plans for opening up in the fall. Dr. Jay Varkey, associate professor of medicine and infectious disease specialist at Emory University will respond to her plans and help us all understand better what public health considerations we should focus on as we develop our approaches to opening up campus in the fall.

Please join us for a Complimentary AGB Webinar tomorrow Tuesday June 23, 2020 at NOON ET.

I look forward to connecting with you on this important topic tomorrow.
